The New Amsterdam Grasslands is a prairie resembling the historical habitat of the UWL campus prior to the development of La Crosse. This site is threatened by invasive shrubs, which threaten endangered birds living in the grasslands.
On UWL Day of Service, volunteers will remove invasive shrubs. The Mississippi Valley Conservancy will provide small garden loppers, snacks, and water. The site is rather flat. Please plan on wearing long pants and closed toed shoes.
We will meet in the Student Union E-Cafe at 9:15am (check-in starts at 9am), and then will head to our sites after a brief welcome. At 1pm, we will return to UWL for a pasta lunch.
