The Inclusion and Adapted Department at the La Crosse Area Family YMCA provides a variety of recreation opportunities for individuals of all ages and all abilities. Our programs are designed to work toward individual goals with an overall purpose of enhancing individual’s quality of life through recreation.
Our programs would not be possible without our Inclusion Volunteers. As an Inclusion Volunteer, your role is vital to the success of our programs and our participants. Within all of our programs, a volunteer is paired up with the same participant each program session to help develop a trusting, and positive relationship. Each program is led by a trained inclusion coach or instructor, as a volunteer, you are there to help support, encourage, and motivate your participant.
Individuals with diverse abilities have the opportunity to play the game of baseball. This program is accepting and adaptive to all ability levels and backgrounds. These teams do not focus on the intent to win but rather focus on the enjoyment of everyone getting the chance to bat, play infield and outfield, and score runs. Games are played on a rubberized surface field that accommodates wheelchairs and other assisted devices.
