Join a group of about 10 people as we assist the Habitat for Humanity at the local ReStore.  Whether it's moving furniture donations, organizing inventory, or helping staff/customers, our group will help with daily ReStore tasks while supporting any special projects staff have. 

Wear comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting stained or dirty and dress in layers - we'll be traveling between indoor and outdoor conditions to engage the loading dock safely.

Volunteers at the ReStore get a behind-the-scenes look at the daily operations of La Crosse’s only discount home improvement store. In a typical day, volunteers help track incoming donations, support customers, and keep things running smoothly. Special projects for groups might include constructing shelving for a new section of the store or landscaping in the ReStore’s native plant gardens but must be scheduled in advance. Habitat staff provide guidance on construction sites so even those with no experience can learn a new skill; we provide all the tools you'll need to get the job done safely. Habitat works on new construction and rehabilitation homes year-round; locations rotate. Prompt arrival at the start of your shift is important for the safety orientation but if you cannot stay for the full day, please notify staff on the jobsite before you leave. Volunteers might split into smaller groups to support different areas of the store: receiving, recycling room, and the checkout counter. Special projects (TBD) might include crafting holiday ornaments, constructing shelving for a new section of the store, or landscaping in the ReStore’s native plant gardens. This locations require closed-toed shoes.

Volunteers will meet in the UWL Student Union Lower-Level E-Cafe at 9am to kick-off the Day of Service. Volunteers will return to UWL for lunch and community building.
