Join residents of the campus area neighborhood association, Grandview-Emerson (GENA), in planting trees in areas of need near UWL.
GENA is coordinating with the City Forestry department on this special Fall planting event where trees have been removed because of disease (such as Ash Borer) or where trees are absent and will have a great environmental or other beneficial impact.
Lots of hands make light work and our residents are lots of fun to socialize with as well.
No experience is required and each planting team will be closely supervised to ensure an enjoyable, safe & rewarding day making a difference in our neighborhoods - with the added benefit of being able to watch your hard work grow over time!
Tasks include digging a hole, placing the tree, watering, staking and mulching. You will be on a team led by a skilled tree planter.
We will be meeting in the upper parking lot of Myrick Park at 9 a.m. We expect this to take about 2.5-3 hours. We will provide tools, etc. You just need a pair of gloves. Feel free to call Barb at 608-317-4311.
