Fresh Start is currently seeking volunteers to tutor or mentor one or more of our youth. Some of Fresh Start's participants are working to complete high school, and therefore have time during the day dedicated to finishing school work. The tutor would assist with completing assignments and keeping them on track and motivated. Similarly, mentors would work with youth to keep them motivated in meeting their goals. Volunteers would develop a schedule with the youth and be there for support and encouragement. This opportunity is at the Western Dairyland Eau Claire office. Any help you can provide would be appreciated.

Western Dairyland operates seven homeless shelters in western Wisconsin for families with children. Our shelters are single-family apartments which may be occupied for up to 30 days. Each shelter is completely furnished with bedding, furniture, decorations, and cooking utensils donated by the community. 

Volunteers are needed to clean the apartments when families move out each month. This includes cleaning floors, windows and walls, cleaning the kitchen and bathroom, and other minor chores.

This opportunity has multiple locations: Eau Claire, Black River Falls, and Mondovi

Western Dairyland's Housing Services is currently searching for home furnishings and basic living donations for our upcoming new clients.

These items can include furniture, small appliances, cleaning supplies, and any other common household items. 

When donating items, especially beds and cloth furniture, please make sure they do not have bed bugs and that the item is in useable condition.

 If you would like to donate, you can arrange a time to bring in donations with our volunteer coordinator, Brooke Frion. If they are furniture items they will need to be dropped off at one of our storage units, as we do not have a truck to move these items.

 All donations could benefit you during taxes, as we are a non-profit business.

Western Dairyland Housing First program is looking for individuals and/or groups that love to clean! We house chronically homeless individuals and families throughout the Eau Claire area. These participants may move to a new unit and/or successfully complete the program. When this happens, the unit is in need of cleaning like when any tenant moves out of a rental. We could use a group of go to people for when this need arises. If you enjoy cleaning and being a part of changing people's lives, this is the perfect opportunity for you!

This opportunity is in Eau Claire, WI. When the need arises you will be contacted for availability.

We need help moving furniture and other items for our clients who are entering or leaving our homeless shelters. Volunteers with a truck or trailer would be ideal, but not necessary. Assistance would be needed a handful of times a year for our Housing First program. Volunteers would also be needed to assist in picking up furniture donations. Your assistance with this would be vital to helping house our local homeless.

Western Dairyland Fresh Start is currently seeking volunteers to help at our construction site. Experience in construction is preferred, but not necessary as volunteers will be assisting with general construction duties. Volunteers will also help to oversee the Fresh Start youth and keep them on task with the help of our site supervisor. The youth are at the construction site Monday through Thursday from 8am to 4pm, located this year in Fall Creek, and we can work around your schedule! Any help you can provide would be appreciated.

Fresh Start is always looking for people to speak to the Fresh Start youth about their career! As part of our career development initiative, we try to introduce our participants to different career paths that they might be interested in pursuing. During these presentations we typically discuss the schooling one would need for this career, job opportunities and outlook, pros and cons of the career, and anything of the sort. This program is based out of our Eau Claire office. Any help you can provide would be appreciated.
