The Women Build Intern will experience the ins and outs of event planning and build strong project management skills as they help organize the details of the 3-day volunteer and community event. They will work on marketing, fundraising, and volunteer experience. As availability allows, there may be additional events to assist with.

We can accommodate anywhere from 5 to 10 hours a week, more during the first two weeks of March. Ideally this intern would be available for the following 2026 events: Women in Construction March 5-6 and Women Build March 12-14. This is an unpaid position which might occasional travel. Habitat La Crosse is seeking a passionate and creative student intern to support the execution and expansion of our sustainability initiatives. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on community engagement, digital storytelling, and environmental advocacy.

Program Engagement & Outreach:

·   Assist in expanding the reach of sustainability programs through digital content and community engagement.

·   Represent Habitat La Crosse at tabling events, including coordinating with venues, crafting messaging, and engaging with attendees.

Digital Communications & Content Creation:

·   Develop content for social media, newsletters, and other digital platforms to promote sustainability efforts.

·   Collaborate on graphic design, video editing, and creative writing projects to support program visibility.

Special Projects & Creative Opportunities:

·   Contribute to grant writing efforts to support sustainability programming.

Participate in creative projects based on current initiatives and intern interests/skills.

We can accommodate anywhere from part- to full-time; this is an unpaid position which might include some nights, weekends, and occasional travel. We offer flexible scheduling, ReStore discounts, and a pet-friendly workplace.

Habitat staff provide guidance on construction sites so even those with no experience can learn a new skill; we provide all the tools you'll need to get the job done safely. Habitat works on new construction and rehabilitation homes year-round; locations rotate. Prompt arrival at the start of your shift is important for the safety orientation but if you cannot stay for the full day, please notify staff on the jobsite before you leave. Join a group of about 10 people as we assist the Habitat for Humanity at the local ReStore.  Whether it's moving furniture donations, organizing inventory, or helping staff/customers, our group will help with daily ReStore tasks while supporting any special projects staff have. 

Wear comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting stained or dirty and dress in layers - we'll be traveling between indoor and outdoor conditions to engage the loading dock safely.

Volunteers at the ReStore get a behind-the-scenes look at the daily operations of La Crosse’s only discount home improvement store. In a typical day, volunteers help track incoming donations, support customers, and keep things running smoothly. Special projects for groups might include constructing shelving for a new section of the store or landscaping in the ReStore’s native plant gardens but must be scheduled in advance.
