Help make one of La Crosse's favorite Independence Day traditions a success! The Firecracker 4 Mile, Liberty Dash 1 Mile, and Youth Races return to Riverside Park on Saturday, July 4, 2026, bringing together hundreds of runners, families, and community members for a fun-filled morning of fitness and celebration. The event is organized by the River City Running Club and serves as a highlight of the area's Fourth of July festivities.
Volunteers play a vital role in creating a safe, welcoming, and memorable race experience. Opportunities may include race packet pickup, registration assistance, course monitoring, water station support, finish line operations, participant direction, setup and cleanup, and helping with youth race activities.
Whether you're a runner, community supporter, student seeking service hours, or simply looking for a meaningful way to give back on Independence Day, we welcome your help. No previous race experience is necessary—just a positive attitude and a willingness to support participants of all ages and abilities.
Join us in celebrating community spirit while helping runners achieve their goals. Volunteer shifts are available throughout the morning, and every volunteer contributes to the success of this family-friendly event centered at Riverside Park in La Crosse.
